While many are longing for the gift of a child, someone who had the privilege of bearing one threw her baby by the roadside along Green Street, Lower Fairview in Baguio City.

The abandoned fetus was already dead when found by street sweepers on Sunday afternoon, April 6, 2024.

According to the street sweepers, they noticed a black eco-bag on the side of the road. Upon moving it, they saw blood seeping through, which they initially suspected to be that of a dead animal. However, when they opened the bag, they were alarmed to discover a fetus.

The fetus was placed in a red eco bag before it was wrapped in a black bag.

A note was likewise found inside the bag, stating, "Kung sino man makakita nito, pakilibing ang baby ko. Salamat.”

The fetus has been buried at Baguio Public Cemetery.

Based on the initial investigation of the barangay officials, a resident saw the bag at around 11 a.m. on said day, but he ignored it, assuming it was regular trash since the garbage collection was scheduled for the afternoon that day. On the other hand, some residents speculate that the eco-bag had been left in the area by dawn, as they heard their dogs barking, probably at the person who left the bag.

CCTV footage from nearby areas has been retrieved, but is not clear enough to determine the person who left the bag.

Authorities are trying to retrieve other footage while treating the case with sensitivity.
