Fire incidents in Kalinga nearly doubled in 2024 – BFP data

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Fire incidents in Kalinga nearly doubled in 2024, leaving multi-million damages, according to Bureau of Fire and Protection-Kalinga Data.

 

The BFP-Kalinga recorded 73 fire incidents in 2024 which is far higher than the 47 cases documented in 2023. This volume of fire incidents in 2024 left P16,037,365.00 in damages.

 

Of the total fire incidents, six individuals incurred injuries.

 

BFP investigations revealed that the top three causes of the recordedblaze include open flame/farm land/ agricultural land with 25 cases, followed by open flame from rubbish with 9, then children playing matchstick with 8 incidents.

 

Most of the caseshappened during the summer, the months of March and April with 18 incidents each.

 

Further, data from the fire bureau disclosed that from the 73 fire incidents, 61 of them had been responded to by the firefighters in the province, with response time of within seven minutes. The rest cases not responded to were due to late reports by victims or witnesses of the fire incidents.

 

The BFP Kalinga is encouraging the public to immediately call their hotline number at0945-537-1514 in case a fire incident in their area happens. They also appeal for everyone to be cautious and avoid acts that may ignite flamethat can cause fire in their area such as playing of matchstick, lighter, or throwing cigarettes anywhere.
