Fire officer shot in Abra a day after shooting incident of lady lawyer

La Paz, Abra - A day after a lady lawyer was shot dead in Bangued, another shooting incident transpired in Abra, this time in the Municipality of La Paz.

The victim, a fire officer, was named by authorities as FO3 Toni Tristan Ballesta, 38, married, and a resident of Poblacion, La Paz.

Police revealed the victim was about to enter their house at the public market in Poblacion at 10 p.m. on Sept. 15 after taking a bath when he was suddenly shot four times by the perpetrator.

He sustained gunshot wounds to his posterior chest and right posterior thigh as a result.

He was immediately ferried to the Abra Provincial Hospital by the personnel of La Paz Police for treatment and is now in stable condition.

At the crime scene, three fired cartridge cases and a fired bullet from a caliber 45 pistol were retrieved by police officers. The gun used in the firing incident, meantime, has not yet been recovered.

Following a hot pursuit operation, the suspect, a 36-year-old driver and a resident of the same area, was arrested by police.

He is now at the La Paz Municipal Police Station for documentation and further investigation.

To recall, prior to the incident, Lawyer Maria Saniata Liwliwa Gonzales Alzate was shot multiple times on Thursday, Sept. 14, by yet-to-be-known suspects in front of her residence. Her injuries resulted in her untimely death.
