Fire razes 2 houses in Tuba, Benguet Sunday night amid heavy rains

Tuba, Benguet - Two houses were destroyed after a fire broke out in Tuba, Benguet amid the heavy rains being experienced in the area on Sunday night, November 17, 2024.

 

The blaze was captured on video by a netizen and was posted on her Facebook page. The two-storey bunkhouse in Philex Mines, Camp 3, Tuba was engulfed by the fire while the super typhoon “Pepito” was battering the municipality that evening with strong winds and torrential rains.

 

Tuba and other municipalities in Benguet were placed under signal number 4 at 8:00 p.m on November 17.

 

The fire broke out at around 8:30 p.m, according to the initial report from the Tuba Municipal Police Station obtained by DZWT 540 AM - Radyo Totoo.

 

Upon notification, the Bureau of Fire Protection - Tuba responded immediately to the incident and declared fire out at 10:00 p.m.

 

It was said that the bunkhouse was totally destroyed by the fire, while another house near it, belonging to the Lorenzo family, was also affected with partial damage.

 

Fortunately, no casualties or injuries have been recorded during the incident.

 

At present, further investigations are underway to determine the cause of the blaze and the cost of damage left by the fire.
