Aguinaldo, Ifugao – The local government unit of Aguinaldo, Ifugao is preparing the financial assistance to be given to a family in Barangay Halag after the house they are staying in was burnt down on the afternoon of August 27.

Jesler Baawa, Municipal Information Officer of Aguinaldo LGU, said the family of Ronie Enladchang – the caretaker of the house - was out when the fire broke out sparing them from the incident.

The estimated damage cost of the fire, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection-Aguinaldo, is about P215, 000.

In the report of Aguinaldo BFP, it said the community tried to put out the fire, but the only thing saved from the fire was the rice mill equipment of the family.

As to the cause of the fire, Baawa said it is still being investigated by BFP-Aguinaldo.

“Under investigation pay lang kanu ti BFP sir, base iti tattao idiay lugar ket nangrugi iti kuryente kas kunan diay akin balay nga adda nangngeg na nga duwa a pinumtok bago mapuuran diay balay,” he said.

The family was initially given relief assistance earlier today, August 29, by the personnel of the Municipal Disaster Risk and Reduction Management, Municipal Social Welfare and Development, and the Aguinaldo police.

Among the aid given were relief goods, kitchen utensils, hygiene kits, and clothing.

Meantime, Baawa informed that the provincial government of Ifugao will also be giving assistance to the fire victims and will be sent to the family in the coming days once received by the Aguinaldo LGU.
