Fire victims in Lagawe, Ifugao given DSWD, LGU cash aid

Ifugao, Philippines – Three families in Barangay Cudog, Lagawe, Ifugao whose houses were gutted by fire on Monday evening, Dec. 19, received financial aid from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Lagawe Local Government Unit.


The incident is so far the first fire reported in Cudog in a while.


The blaze broke out at the furniture shop in said village at around 11 p.m. and razed the three houses nearby. The fire was extinguished at around 1 a.m. on Tuesday. Fortunately, no one was hurt.


An estimated damage of P1,575,000 was reported by the Bureau of Fire and Protection in Lagawe.

Hearing the news, the MSWD and the Social Welfare and Development team in the province immediately gave each household relief assistance that includes food packs, hygiene kits, kitchen kits, family kits, and sleeping kits.


The SWAD– Ifugao likewise awarded P10,000 pesos to each family victim, the local media reported.


For their part, Lagawe LGU headed by Mayor Martin Habawel Jr. and Vice Mayor Reynold Kimayong on Thursday, Dec. 22 handed over P20,000 to each household for their Emergency Shelter Assistance.


Through the “pass the hat,” the employees of said unit donated another cash to help the families in their recovery.


While the main cause of the fire incident is still being investigated, the community members are reminded to be cautious so as to prevent untoward incidents.
