Bauko fireman helps deliver baby in a car

Bauko, Mt. Province – The Sadsadan Fire Sub-station personnel were in the middle of a meeting on January 11 when they had to jump into action as a woman in labor could no longer make it to the hospital in time of their baby’s birth.

The couple from Monamon Norte in Bauko was on their way to Luis Hora Memorial Regional Hospital in Abatan around 9:00 a.m. when their second baby was about to be born.

Fire Officer 3 Efrain Ngade of the said station recounted their commander, SFO3 Sherwin Cogasi called a break in their meeting upon hearing a fast-approaching car that suddenly stopped in front of the Rural Health Unit that is beside them.

They went to check what was happening and they learned there was a pregnant woman and the baby’s head was already out.

There and then, Ngade who is a nurse by profession boarded the car and helped in the delivery of the baby girl.

“Iti abay mi ditoy ket RHU, ket diay ipan da kuma idiay Luis Hora idi kwa ket makitkita da nga rumrumwaren diay ubing … dinagas da ditoy RHU. Ustu met nga idi agbusina, ket madama meeting mi ket ni apay nga kasla adda napaspas nga lugan tapos nagbusina isu nga nagpa-recess ni commander,” Ngade narrated.

The mother and the baby were brought to Luis Hora Memorial Regional Hospital.

In his years serving in the Bureau of Fire Protection, this is the second time Ngade helped a mother pushed her baby out. The first was in 2016.
