Fish dealer arrested for sleeping with 15-yr.-old girl in Isabela

Isabela, Philippines – A fish dealer in Isabela was charged after sleeping with a 15-year-old girl in Santiago, Isabela.

The suspect, identified as Hermes Rivera, 27, married, and the minor victim met through a social media site, the girl and her 15-year-old cousin told XFM Santiago.

These cousins reportedly ran away from home and in order to afford a boarding house, one of them thought of grabbing the P3,000 offer of the suspect in exchange of sex.

The two minors met Rivera where the victim had sex with him.

The incident reached the victim’s parents who appeared before the Police Station 4 to report the case.

On Tuesday night, Sept. 26, authorities launched an entrapment operation which resulted into the arrest of the accused at a hotel in Santiago City.

In his defense, the suspect claimed he was not aware that the person he offered to sleep with him for money was a minor.

The suspect is facing charges for statutory rape and violation of Republic Act 7610 or "Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act."
