Aguinaldo, Ifugao – Additional 82,000 carp fingerlings were distributed on December 02, 2022 to the 41 calamity-affected fisherfolks in Posnaan, Aguinaldo.

In an earlier report, the Municipal Agriculture Office said the local government unit led by Mayor Gaspar Chilagan Jr. allotted a total of P500,000.00 under the Project Procurement Management Plan (PPMP) to aid in the recovery of fisherfolks heavily affected by natural calamities such as landslides, earthquakes, and fishkills.

Ifugao, known to be region’s top fish producer, suffered major losses with the extreme heat caused by climate change hit the province in May 2015, destroying fishponds in Aguinaldo, Mayoyao, Lagawe, Lamut, and Alfonso Lista that massively reduced fish population.

Through its rehabilitation program, the government in Aguinaldo has been providing necessary measures to support and help the sector.

On August 25, the local agriculture office along with the barangay officials of Posnaan held registration drive and were able to successfully register at least 50 farmers in the Registry System for Basic Sector in Agriculture (RSBSA), the basic requirement in availing agri-fishery services.

From October to November, some 60 fisherfolks in town received fingerlings through the said program of the LGU.

Another 41 recipients were given earlier on the second day of this month.

The MAO – Aguinaldo conducts regular monitoring to ensure the proper implementation and success of the program.
