Fisherman in Sta. Ana, Cagayan found dead after his boat capsized

Cagayan, Philippines – A middle-aged fisherman failed to return home after sailing to the sea on his boat as his body was later found floating in the waters of Sta. Ana, Cagayan over the weekend.

Arturo Redolia, 57, and resident of Diora-Zinungan was reported missing on October 03 after he was seen going to the sea but never came back.

Police accounts as cited by the Cagayan Provincial Information Office revealed that the victim went fishing under the inclement weather. It was described that while he was in the middle of the vastness, a wave struck his boat, causing it to overturn in the waters.

The victim was seen by a witness to have tried to swim to the shore, but he was not able to resist the force of the water after he was swept by another wave.

Two days later, on October 05, the fisherman’s lifeless body was found floating in the sea in Diora-Zinungan.

The authorities reminded the fishermen in the area not to gamble their lives when weather advisories say it is dangerous to go fishing in the sea.
