Flora celebrates Annual children’s month with arts competitions; Mayor Juan delivers SOCA

Flora, Apayao- The municipality of Flora on Tuesday, Nov. 26 culminated its month-long celebration for the Annual children’s month, at the EDSJ Memorial Sports center.


Said celebration was facilitated by the MSWDO led by RSW Iris Venus C. Sana, in partnership with the PSWDO held to raise awareness on child related issues and promote children’s rights and privileges. 


This year’s theme, which centered on “Break the Prevalence, End the Violence: Protecting Children, creating a safe Philippines,’’ has brought together teachers, parents, Elementary and High School learners, and learners of Child Development Centers across the town.


The event was filled with an array of fun activities featuring a series of friendly competitions such as solo, duet singing contest, modern and folk dances where children had showcased their enchanting voices and artistic moves. Children also enjoyed drawing activities and other artworks. 


For said competitions, the winners for the singing contest are as follows: Solo contest, 1st place (San Jose Integrated School); 2nd place (Bagutong Elementary School; 3rd place (Flora East Central School): Duet contest, 1st place (Flora National High School); 2nd place (ANATHS); 3rd place (San Jose Integrated School). For the Hip-Hop winners, 1st place (San Jose Integrated School); 2nd place (RDCNHS); 3rd place (FNHS).


Winners for the Modern dance competitions are as follows: 1st place (Poblacion West CDC); 2nd place (Anninipan CDC); 3rd place (Malayugan CDC). Consolation prizes were given to 9 participating CDCs.  For the winners in Folk dance, 1st place (Flora East Central School); 2nd place (Flora Central School); 3rd place (Allig Elementary School).


Mayor Rodolfo B. Juan, in his State of the Children’s Address (SOCA) said that children are the next nation’s leaders, emphasizing the importance of nurturing children’s talents, and molding their values to become asset of progress and developments. Mayor Juan also encouraged parents to foster discipline and respect in their homes and be role models to their children.


Meantime, the SPUPCDFI Child-Protect team provided lectures and information awareness on raising children’s rights, development, health, and their privileges on education.


LGU Flora expressed thanks to Teachers, Parents, Local officials, Board of Judges, and visitors for their participation on said event.
