Baguio City, Philippines – A food delivery rider was on his way to bring a customer’s order when he crashed into a 10-wheeler dump truck in Baguio City on Tuesday morning, February 28.

The incident happened along the Loakan road in Baguio around 11:20 a.m. on said date, a national media reported.

At the time, 30-year-old delivery rider Francis Opiña Mangaoang allegedly tried to overtake the dump truck. However, just as he moved to the opposite lane, there was an incoming vehicle that prompted him to return to his lane.

Unfortunately, that was when he miscalculated his move and crashed into the rear wheel of the truck causing him to get dragged by the latter several meters away from the point of impact.

The truck driver, Benjamin Balbines Jr., 43. was brought to police custody but was reportedly freed following an amicable settlement between him and the rider’s side.

A candle was earlier lit at the place of the incident in prayer for the food delivery rider who passed away due to the road accident.
