Foreigners lost almost P7M in cash, jewelry to burglars in Baguio


Baguio City, Philippines – Two foreign tourists currently residing in Baguio City lost over P6 million in jewelry and cash to burglars Wednesday dawn, Oct. 18, 2023.


The victims identified as Sigundina Pastorin Douthwaite, 75, and Tyler Laude Tanap, 20, were both asleep when the thieves broke into their condominium unit along Yangco Road, Upper General Luna. The two are Filipino - Canadian and Filipino - American citizens, respectively.

Around P6,606,000 worth of two bracelets, diamond ring, diamond necklace, rolex watch, emerald necklace, and $30,000 were taken away from Douthwaite.


Meanwhile, Tanap lost about P215,000 worth of IPhone 13 and diamond necklace.


Police through DZWT 540 – Radyo Totoo said the burglars might have climb the concrete fence to get into the unit as Tanap relayed that he left the sliding door open when they went to sleep.


According to the three guards who were then on duty, they did not see anyone entering or climbing the condominium that time.


Authorities are already investigating the incident with the aid of the fingerprints found at the crime scene.
