Fully vaccinated in Cordillera surpassed 1 million mark

Baguio City, Philippines – Over 1 million individuals in the region have already been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 virus, but health officials say vaccination effort in the region’s eligible population will continue for herd immunity.

Data of the Regional Vaccination Operations Center on January 20 shows that 1,018,282 individuals, including children ages 12 to 17, were fully vaccinated.

The same data shows that 79,999 others received their first dose. There are also 144,928 fully vaccinated adults who received their booster shots.

The Department of Health-Cordillera is encouraging unvaccinated individuals to get jabbed as cases of the COVID-19 virus continue to rise and spread in the region.

The health department said getting vaccinated will protect oneself, family, and other people dying from the disease.

Dr. Anachris Kilakil, as reported by PIA Cordillera, explained that unvaccinated individuals are at high risk of contracting the virus and are susceptible to severe cases, which may lead to death.

According to Kilakil via PIA-Cordillera, Philippine Statistics Authority projected population of the region for 2021 is 1,836,857, which means that there are around 306,000 eligible individuals who are yet to get inoculated.

The Department of Health said they shall continue to reach out and vaccinate the eligible population with the help of the provincial and municipal vaccination operations center and implementing teams.
