Funding of P920.5M farm-to-market road projects in Apayao proposed


Luna, Apayao – Thirty-three farm-to-market road projects benefiting the seven municipalities of Apayao were proposed during the Regional Development Council-Cordillera Fourth Quarter meeting in Baguio City on Monday, January 8.


The requested budget for these road projects amounts to P920.5 million.


Corazon Claveria, representative of the Karagawan Indigenous Women Association, emphasized that these projects will not only enhance transportation in Apayao but also improve accessibility to farming communities.


The primary focus of the project is on the development of farm-to-market roads (FMRs) in the municipalities of Apayao.


Among the proposed projects, Conner municipality holds the largest market share, with thirteen FMRs amounting to a budget of P430.5 million.


Following closely, Pudtol has five road projects with a budget of P168 million, and Kabugao has three projects totaling P93.45 million.


Other municipalities included in the development plan are Calanasan with four road projects, Santa Marcela with five, and Flora with three, amounting to budgets of P81.6 million, P78 million, and P69 million, respectively.


The final approval for these projects will be granted by RDC Chairperson Elias C. Bulut, Jr.


Once approved, these initiatives will be implemented under the Farm to Market Road Development Program (FMRDP) of the Department of Agriculture - Cordillera.
