GO and SEE Sta. Marcela, Apayao’s Balangkoy Festival on June 15 – 17

Santa Marcela, Apayao – The Municipality of Santa Marcela, Apayao is now all set for the Balangkoy (Cassava) Festival 2024, the town’s biggest festivity of the year with lots of events, activities, food and local products.

 

The municipality will be marking its 57th Founding Anniversary and 20th Balangkoy Festival on June 15 – 17, 2024.

 

With the theme: "Pursuits Towards Local Prosperity - A Collective Responsibility," the Local Government Unit headed by Mayor Evelyn Martinez prepared various activities that highlight what Santa Marcela could offer like their arrays of delicacies, unique cultural performances, and the creativity and collaboration of its people. 


This year’s festivity will begin with a float parade from San Antonio Tourism Road to the EKB Memorial Sports Center at 7:00 a.m. on June 15. The event will be followed by an ecumenical service, presentation and sashing of the Libnos and Taer ti Santa Marcela 2024 candidates, and the launching of the Agro-Industrial Fair at the Municipal Grounds.

 

A People’s Night will be held on the same day at 7:30 p.m.

 

The festival’s second day, June 16, will be allotted for a cook fest at the Municipal Grounds; Santa Marcela Motocross Challenge at the Serenio’s Race Track; Tree Hugging and Awarding of Chainsaw Registration Certificates; and the pre-pageant for the Search for Libnos and Taer ti Santa Marcela 2024.

 

On the third day, June 17, it will be the turn of the different schools in the municipality to show their talent and creativity in the Drum and Lyre and Street Dancing Competition at the EKB Memorial Sports Center.

 

Further, Santa Marcela will be crowning the next beauty and hunk who will be bearing this year’s Libnos and Taer ti Santa Marcela titles on the same day at 7:30 p.m.

 

With all these activities prepared, Mayor Martinez invites the town folks and visitors to come and experience a celebration the Santa Marcela way.
