Gov. Edduba backs Balbalan Mayor Malannag on debunking Kabataan Party-list relief drive

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Governor James Edubba has expressed his support to Balbalan Mayor Almar Malannag who recently debunked claims by Kabataan Party-list.

Malannag spoke up against assertions of ‘indiscriminate aerial bombings’ in Salegseg, Gubang, and Mabaca and villages ‘under siege’ in his town as claimed by the said group.

His office cited Commission on Human Rights investigation, stating no evidence of indiscriminate aerial bombings during military operations in said barangays and that what only exploded near the Gawaan Elementary School was white phosphorous

The mayor further said that Gawa-an and Posway villages were not ‘under siege’, only reasonable restrictions were imposed for farmers’ safety.

In a statement, Edduba conveyed, “We are one with Balbalan in expressing our full support to the government’s anti-insurgency campaign.”

He added that the Kalinga Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict and the Civil Society Organizations and volunteer associations have reached out to the conflict-affected barangays to assist in planning, funding, and implementing priority projects.

“We will continue to do so until all communities affected by the insurgency are free from the clutches of Communist Terrorist Groups,” he stressed.
