Tabuk City, Kalinga - In his talk during the Community Consultation and Serbisyo Caravan on Tuesday, April 26, 2023, in Barangay Dupag, Governor James Edduba emphasized to the residents the importance of government services which the barangay can benefit from.

The said consultation activity is in line with the implementation of Presidential Executive Order No. 70, s. 2018 or the Whole-of-Nation Approach to End Local Communist and Armed Conflict (ELCAC) which aims to prioritize and harmonize the delivery of basic services and social development packages in conflict-affected areas and vulnerable communities, among others.

“Adda tayo ditoy ta iyasideg mi ti serbisyo iti gobyerno kadakayu and later on with the facilitation of the DILG, we are going to review kadakayu dagidiay barangay development plan ti Dupag,” Edduba said.

He assured the community that whatever concerns and priority projects they listed for the barangay shall be addressed saying that different national and local agencies are present in the said caravan activity to listen to their requests.

He, however, clarified that with Dupag being an administrative division of Tabuk, the Provincial Local Government may only extend assistance to the ELCAC beneficiary if the City LGU will not be able to provide the aid.

“Ta nu haan nga kaya ti city, adda kami met ditoy, adda met lang dagitoy taga province tapnu amin ket ma-address-an, maikkan ti solusyon na,” Edduba said.

'Adda daytoy ustu nga gobyerno'

The governor explained that the government is bringing its services closer to the people to show them that the real government is here and not in the mountains.

“Apay pay lang nga kailangan yu nga mapan idiay bangir nga idelohiya ket adda ngarud daytoy usto usto nga gobyerno nga mangtulong kanyayu, ipakita ti gobyerno ti napintas nga serbisyo kadakayu,” he said.

The governor also mentioned that people should dwell on the real concerns of the present and not the issues of the past.

“Siguro idi, adda issue na iti dam idi tiempo na idi mga 1970’s. Mabalin ta ditoy met kuma agpayso ti ayan ti dam idi ngem saan met nga kasdiay ti issue tattan. Ti issue tattan ket kasano tayo nga pagtitinnulungan nga agkakailyan (dagiti actual concern) tapnu dagiti problema tayo ket maikkan ti solusyon,” he said, enjoining the people to utilize the Kalinga core values ‘Paniyaw, Ngilin, and Bain’ in finding solutions to problems.

Edduba also reassured that the provincial government is determined to heed and solve the barangay’s concerns.

“Adda kami nga kakabsat yu nga mismo nga kadara yu nga taga Kalinga … Ta importante silulukat ti lamisaan nu anya man dagiti concerns ken problema, mabalin yu nga kuna nga ‘tulungan yu man dakami ta daytoy ti kailangan mi’,” the governor concluded.
