Gov. Edduba tells yKalingas not to lose hope on quest for Cordillera Autonomy

Updated: Jul 15

Tabuk City, Kalinga – “Do not lose hope, perhaps initiate impactful actions that will capture the president’s attention,” Governor James Edduba emphasized during the province-wide gong relay on July 8 at Kalinga Sports Center.

In his speech, Edduba highlighted that the region’s goal of self-governance is still an ‘unfinished business’. Thus, he urged his fellow leaders to take further actions that would get the national government’s support and attention.

As Kalinga will directly benefit from further developments once Cordillera becomes an autonomous region, the governor affirmed his support and cooperation for the realization of said dream.

It is with the same event that Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang, Vice Governor Jocel Baac, and all mayors in the province, have expressed their support for the region’s long-time goal.

Other attendees were representatives from various national line agencies, the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples, and uniform personnel.

The Gong Relay which symbolizes unity is one of the highlights of the province’s commemoration of the 37th Cordillera Month along with the National Disaster Resilience and Nutrition Month celebration.
