Updated: Oct 13, 2022

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Outgoing Governor Ferdinand Tubban assured his continued support to the coffee industry in the province, “whether in government or in private capacity.”

Tubban emphasized this in his talk during his last meeting with the Provincial Coffee Development Council held on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Davidson Hotel and Restaurant, Bulanao, Tabuk City.

The governor has been giving due attention and all-out support to the development of coffee quality and production in the province, acknowledging its potential as an industry, not only in the country but in the world market.

Through the council, additional coffee plantation sites were identified, and funds were allocated for the road improvement in the area to make the product transport easier and safer. Maintenance of existing trees was likewise monitored.

“Ti target tayo gamin idiay pilot project tayo ket maysa iti maysa munisipyo tapnu diay ti ma-showcase tayo. Diay maysa idiay Balinciagao, inikkan tayo pay ti P2 million road support ta isu ti maysa a way a mangi-market,” said Tubban.

Other programs and activities were implemented by the provincial government with the aid of partner agencies during the tenure of the outgoing governor.

He is hopeful that the incoming administration will also recognize the importance of the coffee industry in the locality.

Tubban reminded that each of the council members has a role to play in improving the coffee industry and that they should ensure the preparedness of the farmer organizations before giving them seedlings. This, he explained, is to avoid wastage.

“I am grateful idiay partnership tayo. Adu pay maaramidan tayo. Each and every one of us, adda iti role tayo as members of the council and as an ykalinga. Mamatiak, with all support, with our unity, ag-succeed ti programa tayo,” concluded the outgoing governor as he congratulated Olimpo Lumasok of Lubuagan who ranked 10th in the 2022 Philippine Coffee Quality Competition, under the Robusta Category.
