Governor Elect Edduba praises ‘Mayor Dickpus for displaying sportsmanship’

Lubuagan, Kalinga - During the Oath Taking and Turnover Ceremony of the new and re-elected public officials of the Local Government Unit of Lubuagan on Tuesday, June 28, incoming Provincial Governor James Edduba praised outgoing Mayor Charisma Anne Dickpus for attending the event.

Edduba, in a speech at the event, lauded Dickpus for displaying a sportsmanship gesture saying it rarely happens that a defeated incumbent shows up during a turnover event.

He said that the gesture is a sign of unity that means a good start for the new administration.


“Diay ibagbaga tayu nga unity ket daytoy ti pangkitaan tayu diay talaga nga unity. Hopefully ket daytoy iti mangipakita iti napintas nga panagrugi garud iti baru nga administration,” he said.


While congratulating the rest of the elected officials, he reiterated that the support of the people is needed for its leaders to perform well their mandate.


“Because at the end of the day, ti serbisyuhan tayu met lang ket dagitoy kakailyan tayu nga taga Kalinga,” he said.

Last May elections, Dickpus, after losing the mayoral seat, said in a statement that she shall support the new leadership when the position shall be turned over to the 2022 election winner candidate, Mr. Joel Tagaotao.


She likewise encouraged the yLubuagens to support and be united with the newly elected officials.


"Suportaran tayo latta iti baru a leadership ta dapat met a kasdiay tayo a kas citizen," Dickpus said.


Dickpus, who ran as mayor for her second term, lost by 104 votes with 4,447 while Tagaotao got 4,551.
