Graduating criminology student killed in Baggao motocross accident

Baggao, Cagayan – A 21-year-old graduating criminology student died after he was accidentally run over by a fellow racer during a motocross event in San Francisco, Baggao on Sunday, May 19.


The motocross activity is an invitational event hosted by said barangay, in time for their annual barangay fiesta.


Alias Frank, who was one of the participants, tried to overtake a racer ahead of him when the accident transpired, according to police.


He successfully overtook the other rider but fell on his motorcycle while doing so. The other rider who tried to catch up with him accidentally ran him over.


He was promptly ferried to a medical facility but was declared dead on arrival.


His remains are now at their residence in Ugac Sur, Tuguegarao City.


Meantime, in a statement, the barangay local government unit of San Francisco, Baggao extended its ‘heartfelt apologies for the unfortunate incident’.


“The supposed to be one of the highlights in our feast celebration, the annual motocross event attended by racers from different places became the reason for someone's loss. We acknowledge that this was an unintended accident, and we deeply regret the distress it caused to the people who attended the event, rider participants and to the family of the rider,” they wrote.
