During the opening program, Vice Governor Jocel Baac conveyed that one of the reasons to celebrate the founding anniversary of Kalinga is to commemorate the forefathers and the leaders in the province who have worked hard in order to achieve the Kalinga that we have today.

“Isu nga kadagitoy a tiyempo kakailyan karkaru kadakayo nga ubbing, masapol nga ammu yu nu sino dagiti nangisagana, nagsaksakrispisyo tapnu agbalin tayo a kastoy,” he expressed.

Oscar Casaysay, Executive Director of the National Commission on Culture and the Arts (NCCA) who was invited as the guest of honor affirmed NCCA’s continuous support to Kalinga.

“Ang buong Pambansang Komisyon para sa Kultura at mga Sining ay patuloy na magtataguyod at susuporta sa lahat ng gawaing pangkultura ng buong Lalawigan ng Kalinga. Huwag po kayong mag-atubiling sumulat sa komisyon sa inyong pangangailangan at handa kaming tumulong sa abot ng aming makakaya,” he said.

Among the highlights of the program are the cultural performance of the different municipalities and the city and the presentation of the Miss Kalinga 2023 candidates. It was also during this day that the Pasil Slow Food and Earth Market, and the Kalinga Treasures' Fair opened.
