Gunmen behind fatal shooting on Victory Liner bus identified

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Bullets that killed live-in partners on board a Victory Liner bus matched with those recovered from three shooting incidents in Nueva Ecija and Isabela, authorities revealed.

This finding led investigators to identify the assailants who shot the couple occupying the front seat of the bus going to Manila on November 15.

Philippine National Police Spokesperson, PCol. Jean Fajardo told media that they are now preparing charges against the two hitmen and masterminds. They will be filing them within this week once the needed papers and sworn statements are completed.

Fajardo likewise assured that investigators are confident they have the right people.

“As to the personalities kung sino po ang mafi-file-an ng kaso, antayin po natin kung sino-sino po ito, but one thing I could assure you, kung sino itong kakasuhan, the investigators are very confident that they got the correct persons involved including the two gunmen at yung masterminds,” she said.

She added they believed the gunmen are members of a gun-for-hire group as the bullets recovered matched with the ones used by attackers in previous shooting in Nueva Ecija and Isabela.

While the nature of conflict between the female victim and her son was not revealed, the latter was earlier identified as a person of interest on the case.
