Tabuk City, Kalinga — With the recent disinformation about more shooting incidents in Tabuk City, the Kalinga police ask the public to refrain from spreading unverified and false information on social media.

False news circulated on Facebook following two September 8 shooting incidents (in Barangays San Juan and Appas) that took two lives and injured one. Said fake news showed a picture of a victim of another incident happening this time in Bulanao.

Kalinga Police Provincial Director Peter Tagtag Jr., in an interview with Guru Press Cordillera, recounted that the supposed gunfights in front of Land Bank and Total Bulanao on the evening of September 8 also reached their office.

“Nahagip mi met lang dayta ta adda iti tinmawag kanyak, iti kunak kanyada, sige i-validate tayo. Nagibaon kami iti pulis dita areas nga kunada ta amangan ketdi nu agpaysu,” Police Colonel Tagtag narrated.

However, the police later learned that the report was fabricated. For this reason, Tagtag appeals to the public not to make Facebook an avenue to sow more fear among the people.

“Iti idawat tayo lang iti kakailyan tayo ket haan da kuma nga aramiden dayta Facebook nga karkaru nga mangbuteng kadagitoy kakailyan tayo. Umuna diay fear nga ited na iti public pagkatapos diay bannug met lang iti pupulis tayo,” he appealed.

“Dagitoy kakailyan kuma nga agar-aramid iti kasdiay, haan yu pagay-ayaman iti rikna iti kakadwa yu,” he stressed, adding that they could be investigated and held liable for creating these false alarms.
