Hold-uppers shot 45 yr.-old-man in Buguey, Cagayan, ran away with P1M cash

Buguey, Cagayan – A 45-year-old man who is working as a checker for a cement business lost over a million of cash collection after he fell victim to hold-uppers while he was on his way home after collecting payment from a client in Magapit, Lallo, Cagayan.

The victim, identified as alias Sherwin, a resident of Casambalangan, Sta. Ana, told police the incident transpired around 11 p.m. to 12 a.m. last Friday, August 2.

The victim was on board a van at that time. Before the incident, he observed that two pick-up vehicles were following him when he was on the superhighway along Lallo to Buguey.

When he reached the dark portion of the road, particularly in Sta. Isabel, Buguey, he was blocked by the suspects. This forced him to stop his vehicle. He was later dragged by the suspects from the vehicle, hit him on various parts of his body, and shot him in the abdomen.

Shortly after, the suspects stole the money he collected from a client which, according to police, amounts to over a million pesos. The police did not disclose the exact denomination.

When he regained consciousness, he later drove himself to a nearby hospital, particularly at the Alfonso Ponce Enrile District Hospital, but was transferred to the Cagayan Valley Medical Center where he is currently recuperating.

Cagayan police are now conducting a thorough investigation into the case.
