‘Honor your cultural rootedness and recognize the sacrifice of your ancestor" - Cong. Mangaoang

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Chairman of the Philippine House Committee on Indigenous Cultural Communities and Indigenous Peoples and Representative of the Lone District of Kalinga, Allen Jesse C. Mangaoang, is calling on all indigenous communities to ‘take pride in our cultural rootedness and recognize the people who sacrificed their lives to protect the land we live in.’

The solon made the remark in celebration of National Indigenous Peoples (IP) Month this October.

This year’s theme, “Katutubong Filipino: Atin ang Tagumpay!” features how IPs in the country strived in the midst of adversities.

In his message, Mangaoang highlighted the evident success of indigenous peoples in various fields of discipline.

These, he stressed, ‘are all the bounty of determination and perseverance of our ancestors who gave their call so that we will all enjoy all the rights accorded to every human being.’

“We have gained so much from our forebears’ ingenuity such that it is proper and fitting that they be accorded to honoring respect for if not of them, our journey would still be rough and tough,” the solon stated.

Inspired by the good deeds of our ancestors, ‘we are looking beyond the horizon full of hope and certainty that Kabunyan will guide us in the continuance of our journey.’

“The situation is getting harder for all of us, but we raise our hope that the God of our ancestors will not forsake us and that He will even summon every IP to take active part in saving the world because he deeply trusts us as the people who have taken good care of his creations,” Mangaoang added.
