House fire in Poblacion, Balbalan leaves family nothing but ashes

Balbalan, Kalinga – Nothing was left of a house in Sitio Dalayap, Poblacion after a fire broke out on Sunday night, September 15, 2024.


The residence which belonged to miner Edward Amoga and his family was engulfed in fire around 11:40 p.m. of said date. It was believed that the fire started from a wire inside the house.


The community along with the authorities attempted extinguish the fire using buckets of water as the path going to the house was too narrow for the fire truck, but the blaze was too strong.


Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident apart from a police officer whose hand was slightly injured.


Upon learning of the incident, Mayor Almar Malannag personally went to the site the following morning to extend immediate help to the victims from the Municipal Local Government Unit of Balbalan.


The assistance provided included relief goods, blankets, and P10,000 cash. The mayor and other donors likewise gave what they could from their own resources.


Malannag informed that he already contacted the Office of Kalinga Governor James Edduba to request further assistance for the Amoga family.


For the time being, the family is staying at a room below the Day Care Center in Dalayap.
