Naguilian, Isabela – A husband and wife died while three others, including their one-year-old son, were injured in a vehicular accident that transpired on Sunday, June 23 along the road in Magsaysay, Naguilian, Isabela, according to police.
On said day, a tractor was heading to Cauayan City, while a tricycle ,where the three were on board with two elderlies, were coming from the opposite direction.
Upon reaching the incident scene, police, based on witnesses’ accounts, said that one of the tricycle’s wheels exploded which made the tricycle swerve on the road until it entered the opposite lane.
Noticing what happened, the driver of the approaching tractor made a full brake. However, it did not stop the vehicle from crashing to the tricycle resulting in the tragic fate of the husband and wife.
With the impact of the crash, the tricycle’s side car was crushed. The passengers, with the exception of the one-year-old child, sustained severe injuries.
The husband and wife were ferried to a medical facility but later succumbed to their injuries. The elderlies and the child are still being monitored on their condition.
The husband and wife were identified by police as Dominic Denna and Rosalie Denna.
The elderlies, meantime, were named as Mary Grace Denna and Domingo Denna. Domingo was the one who drove the tricycle.
As to the tractor driver, he was identified as Edison Calipjo, 25.
As of this writing, both parties have already agreed to settle the matter amicably.
