“I wanted to become an Engineer and nothing else,” - iKalinga 2024 REELE TOP 10

Being fond of solving Math problems than writing essays while growing up, Chrizelle Alexis Kue Amiyan knew she wanted to become an engineer.

Chrizelle whose paternal roots came from Colayo, Pasil recently made this dream her reality after she passed the August 2024 Registered Electrical Engineer Licensure Examination (REELE). This University of the Philippines-Los Baños alumna did not just pass, her name could also be found in the list of top 10 examinees.

Having earned a general average of 90.50%, she was named the top 10 of the August 2024 REELE.

“I simply knew when I was growing up that I wanted to become an Engineer and nothing else,” Chrizelle told GURU Press Cordillera.

Didn’t aim to top

Unlike her colleagues whose goal was to be a topnotcher, Chrizelle shared she only wanted to pass the board exam. She added she even doubted herself before and during the test.

“I even doubted myself and questioned if I was actually ready to take it since I felt like there were a lot of lessons that I had not mastered yet. Even after the second day of my board exam, I was nervous since there were a lot of questions that I was not familiar with,” she recounted.

Board Exam Preparations

After she graduated from college as Magna Cum Laude, the iKalinga topnotcher allotted 6

months for her review. Though she enrolled in two review centers, Chrizelle admitted she was not that serious in her review for the first two months as she needed to recover from mental and physical exhaustion from her university days.

It was in April 2024 when she started taking her review seriously, dedicating more time, and exerting more effort in studying.

“My study method is to answer a lot of questions in order to hone my problem-solving skills and familiarize myself with different types of questions. Whenever I make mistakes on my exams, I make sure to review them and know the right answer,” she narrated.

While she devoted her time to her review, Chrizelle made sure to have time to rest her mind and do things to divert her attention from studying for a while. She usually played games, read books, and watched some series.

“It is really important to relax after a long day of studying since it is crucial to take care of yourself,” she stressed.

Advice to the next REELE takers

To the next REELE takers, Chrizelle advised them to study the fundamentals of the subjects which will be their weapon in answering any kind of questions they encounter in the board exam.

Apart from studying concepts, the topnotcher also mentioned the importance of answering practice tests and enrolling at a good review center with great instructors who can teach the basics and techniques needed to pass and ace the test.

“Maximize your review centers’ quizzes and pre-board examinations. Do not forget to have faith in yourself and manifest that you will pass the board exam through your efforts and dedication,” she said.
