IBP Kalinga makes history with successful hosting of biggest convention of lawyers in Northern Luzon

Tabuk City, Kalinga – There is always a first for everything, and for the Integrated Bar of the Philippines Kalinga Chapter, they marked their first-ever hosting of the biggest gathering of lawyers and judges in Northern Luzon.

On November 25 – 26, lawyers from the north came to Bulanao, Tabuk City to attend the 13th Leg of the Code of Professional Responsibility and Accountability (CPRA) Rollout and IBP Northern Luzon Regional Convention.

In attendance to the two-day event were two highest justices of the Supreme Court, Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo and Senior Associate Justice Marvic Mario Victor Leonen. The two were also keynote speakers.

As a show of gratitude and respect, they were adopted as sons by Kalinga Province – Gesmundo was named ‘Magma-u’ while Leonen was called ‘Wanawan’.

The convention was composed of series of lectures from esteemed speakers and there was also a Cultural Night where they named Atty. Jet-Jet James B. Tagaotao of Kalinga and Atty. Raamah Elisha M. Dadhwal of Cagayan as the 2024 Mr. and Ms. IBP Northern Luzon.

In her message, IBP Northern Luzon Governor, Atty. Minerva Magtanao-Taguinod conveyed that while there are only 257 members of the IBP Kalinga, the chapter’s determination and team work in hosting the convention demonstrated that size does not limit potential.

“We make history as the small but mighty Kalinga Chapter hosts this prestigious gathering for the first time, proving that even with only 257 members, we can achieve great things. Our chapter's determination and teamwork demonstrate that size doesn't limit potential,” she said.
