Ifugao honors WBA Asia Super Bantamweight Carl Jammes “Wonder Boy” Martin


Ifugao, Philippines – Recognizing the prestige that Carl Jammes “Wonder Boy” Martin brought to the province and the country, Ifugao government honored him on Monday, September 19, 2022.


The 23-year-old, undefeated Martin, a native of Lagawe, was able to defend his World Boxing Association (WBA) Asia Super Bantamweight title after defeating Tanzania’s pride Charles Tondo via unanimous decision on July 30, 2022 at the SM City San Lazaro in Manila.


During the flag raising ceremony early this morning, the Office of the Governor awarded Martin a Certificate of Commendation while the Vice-Governor and council provided a resolution, congratulating and “highly commending” him for his success, reported the provincial government in a press release.

The Ifugao boxer likewise had a motorcade from Provincial Capitol - Lagawe - Kiangan - Hingyon - Banaue.


“We congratulate you on your success and wish you all the best for your future! Well done!” expressed the provincial government.


Martin took to social media to express gratitude to Ifugao officialdom for initiating the event which gave him the opportunity to greet his fandom and relatives as well.

It can be remembered that “Wonder Boy” was provided another commendation certificate and resolution on April 18, 2022 for winning the WBA Super Bantamweight held at the Elorde Sports Complex, Sucat, Paranaque on March 12, 2022.
