Ifugao logs ZERO case of firecracker injuries, illegal discharge of firearms during holiday season

Updated: Jan 8

Ifugao, Philippines – The Ifugao Police Provincial Office announced a significant achievement - recording zero firecracker-related incidents and illegal discharge of firearms during the recent Christmas and New Year festivities.

This outcome stands as a testament to the concerted efforts of various entities, including the PNP, collaborating security forces, BFP, RHUs, LGUs, volunteers, and the active involvement of the community.

A multifaceted approach was adopted to raise public awareness regarding the hazards associated with illegal firecrackers.

The strategy encompassed extensive information dissemination through social media platforms, radio appearances, community outreach programs, dialogues, educational talks, and the distribution of informative flyers.

Also, a proactive deployment of police personnel was initiated starting from December 1, 2023.

To ensure heightened police presence, offer assistance, prevent crimes, and address potential threats, officers were strategically placed in places of worship, public markets, business centers, transport terminals, main thoroughfares, and various municipal convergence points.

Police Assistance Desks (PADs) were likewise established near critical areas like marketplaces, church entrances, parks, plazas, and provincial roads. These locations served as immediate response points for any emergency or unforeseen incidents.

Provincial Director, PCOL Marvin Diplat lauded and expressed appreciation to the brave men and women of the Ifugao PNP, collaborating government agencies, and dedicated volunteers who went beyond their usual duties.

He emphasized the crucial role played by community engagement in ensuring an orderly, peaceful, and safe 2023 yuletide season.

The commendable accomplishment reflects a collective commitment to fostering a safer environment and upholding public safety within the Ifugao province.
