Lagawe, Ifugao – Illegal drugs in the Province of Ifugao remain to be minimal with only six drug cases monitored by the police authorities in 2022.

With around 200,000 inhabitants as of May 2020, illegal drugs continue to be under control in the province.

Ifugao Police Provincial Director PCol. Davy Vicente Limmong relayed that of the 6 drug cases, one is a buy-bust operation, another case is the intercepted contraband placed inside a package, and the other four are marijuana eradication.

Limmong further revealed that the highest volume of illegal weeds burned last year is 34 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants.

The Provincial Director conveyed there are still some personalities under surveillance and that they are monitoring the drug surrenderers to make sure they will not go back to their old illegal vices.

“Hopefully, after the majority of them underwent the wellness program, they realized the bad impact or bad effects of these illegal drugs. Hopefully, they will be able to fully overcome it already,” he said.

Limmong also expressed that they, at the Ifugao Police Provincial Office, support the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s Buhay Ingatan, Droga Ayawan(BIDA) program to combat the proliferation of illegal drugs.
