Igorot powerlifter won 2 bronze medals in ASEAN Para Games 2022


Benguet, Philippines – Another Cordilleran para-athlete contributed to the medals obtained by the Philippine team in the ongoing ASEAN Para Games 2022 in Indonesia.


Denesia Esnara from the Province of Benguet snatched two bronze medals for the country in the 50kg Powerlifting women – total lift and best lift games on August 1, 2022.

Benguet Governor Melchor Diclas penned his congratulations to Esnara on his Facebook page, praising the athlete for ‘achieving such a milestone and for writing another inspiring story for the people of Benguet’.


Meanwhile, a fellow Cordilleran, Jerrold Mangliwan of Kalinga bagged the gold medal in the men’s 100-meter T52 race.


As of 3:30 PM on August 3, the Philippines is still at the 5th spot in the official medal standing of this year’s ASEAN Para Games. The country has so far accumulated 9 gold, 9 silver and 16 bronze medals.

The host country, Indonesia is leading the current medal tally with 61 gold, 47 silver, and 31 bronze medals.


The ASEAN Para Games 2022 will close on August 6, 2022.
