When one puts his mind to the goal, no mountain is high enough to keep him from getting to where he wants to be. This was what Orly Ganotisi displayed in his journey to topping the medical technologists board exam.

Orly, a graduate of the University of Baguio and a resident of Malalao, Tabuk City, was recently named the top 10 of the March 2025 Medical Technologists Licensure Examination.

In an interview with GURU Press Cordillera, Orly, 22, revealed he wanted and prayed to top the licensure test, which is why he immediately started his review upon finishing his internship in August 2024 by enrolling at a review center, which gave him a scholarship.

Having the desire to top the exam made the 22-year-old even more motivated to go over as many review materials as he could. However, he was held back by financial constraints since his scholarship from DOST ended after his studies, and he did not want to burden his mother who raised all her five children after losing a husband in 2011.

Due to this, he settled on available soft copies of review materials. However, this was where another struggle came in because his laptop was too slow to process commands and he had to summon all the patience while waiting for the files to load.

Despite these, he lived within his means, drew inspiration from his family, especially his mother, and made things work, reaping the fruit of hard work and diligence this April 2025.

“Gusto ko na rin pong sumakses, so, talagang desidido po akong mag-top kasi somehow, ito po yung magagamit kong way para magkaroon sana ng maraming opportunities po when it comes to work po, hopefully,” he expressed.

Secret to topping the board exam

From Orly’s point of view, the secrets to topping the board exam are “courage, grit, discipline, trust in yourself, never giving up, and most importantly, trust in God.”

Sharing his advice to the next board exam takers, Orly emphasized the importance of self-discipline and sacrifice, particularly in preparing for the test. He added that breakdowns are also part of the journey to having a professional license.

Agaramid da bassit nga sakripisiyo nga agrigat ti panag-review ken umaddayu da pay biit ti distractions for the greater good. Okay lang met agbreakdown maminsan, gangay na, ti importante, ilaban ken ituloy latta. And most importantly, always da kuma nga ag-pray ken agtalek kenni Apo,” he conveyed.
