Imee Marcos vows P1 million aid to Apayao farmers’ coop

Apayao, Philippines – With a background on the challenges that farmers have to deal with, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Cooperatives vowed to provide P1 million to Malayugan Rice Granary Farmers Association in Flora, Apayao to aid its farmer members.

“Alam ko ang hirap, narigat ti biyag ti mannalon. Talagang ang hirap ngayon ng agrikultura,” said Senator María Imelda Josefa "Imee" Romualdez Marcos in her keynote message during the culminating program of Say-am Festival at the Apayao Eco-Tourism and Sports Complex in Luna on Sunday, February 12, 2023.

As the Chairman of said committee, she further assured all other cooperatives in the province will benefit from the various assistance she will soon be giving. This, she stated, is to help the sector bounce back from its losses, and thrive.

The senator, along awith Congresswoman Eleanor Bulut-Begtang and Governor Elias Bulut Jr., likewise led the distribution of the first batch of Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS). Some 500 beneficiaries from persons with disabilities (PWDs), solo parents, and IP sectors received their packs worth P3,000 each. The other 500 recipients will get theirs in the next distribution.

“Inaasahan po na tuloy-tuloy ang pagkakaisa natin at alam natin kung gaano kahirap ang dinanas natin… Inaasahan po na tuloy-tuloy ang pagkakaisa natin... Agtitinnulong tayo, talaga nga sangkalkallaysa tayo nga pamilya ditoy amianan, Ilocos Norte ken Apayao,” guaranteed Marcos in her talk.

Though faced with adversities, the senate committee chairwoman believes there are more solutions than problems, thus her tagline “Imee solusyon.”
