Tabuk City, Kalinga – With the groundbreaking ceremony this Friday, April 22, 2022 at Sitio Darulog, Dupligan, Tanudan, the Improvement of Banneng – Darulog – Bawac Farm-to-Market Road in the province begins.

The provincial government of Kalinga under the administration of Governor Ferdinand Tubban had been working for the approval of the sub-project to boost the coffee, banana, and rice production in Tanudan and some parts of Tabuk City for some time, and thus its approval was good riddance to many.

The 479 households that will benefit from the improvement of the FMR expressed gratitude for making their dreams a reality.

Meantime, local officials gave their commitment to do their part especially on the road’s maintenance.

During his talk, Provincial Agriculturist Engr. Domingo Bakilan said the project with a contract worth P138,622,219.80 is expected to be completed on March 20, 2023, or after 313 calendar days.

The FMR, according to Bakilan, measures 6.168 kilometers and 5-meter wide except for Banneng - Gumbowoy with four meters. This, he explained, is due to the standard of the Department of Agriculture before which limits the FMRs to 4 meters.

The thickness of the Banneng – Darulog – Bawac FMR will be 8 inches. The Provincial Agriculturist assured that the road will not be easily destroyed unlike the others.

“Iti sikreto iti saan nga mabettak nga kalsada, uray nu 8 inches ket diay compaction iti base. Masapul nga ma-compact ken diay mixture iti semento, darat ken danum. Diay ti sikreto na nga isu ti inlawlawag da idi kalman kadagitoy barangay officials tayo,” added Bakilan.

The concerned stakeholders such as the barangay officials held a pre-construction meeting yesterday for them to be briefed with the construction process.

The sub-project will be inaugurated on March 28 or March 30, 2023.

Aside from Governor Tubban and Domingo Bakilan, representatives of the Office of Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang; Jovelyn Valenciano of PRDP-RPCO; Marymina Odiem, representing Vice-Governor Dave Odiem; and Chairperson of Kalinga Provincial Council for Values Formation (PCVF), Pastor Benjamin Paycoan also graced today’s event.
