Farmers get added P3 to P4 a kilo if they sell their palay to NFA

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Farmers in the province are now urged to sell their palay at the National Food Authority (NFA) with the launching of P3 to P4 per kilogram of buffer stocking incentives (BSI).

NFA Kalinga Acting Manager, Ma. Luisa Luluquisen relayed during the ‘Kapehan sa Kapitolyo’ held Monday, October 2, that the said incentive was approved by the NFA Council led by President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.

For dry palay with a moisture content of 14 percent, NFA will give P4 as an additional incentive on top of the buying price of P19 per kilogram. The buying price will then be P23 per kilogram.

As for wet palay with a moisture content of 22 percent to 29 percent, the said office will be adding an incentive of P3 per kilogram to the P16 per kilo buying price.

According to Luluquisen, as cited by the provincial government, this incentive can only be availed of by farmers when selling their palay at the NFA warehouse.

NFA Kalinga is situated at Purok 6, Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga.

Other warehouses to serve as storage are located in Cagayan, Isabela, and Nueva Vizcaya.

To recall, the decision to increase the price range for palay was made by Marcos to improve the income of local farmers.

He likewise explained that the previously proposed P20 and P25 buying price ranges are too high and will increase retail prices.

The decision to increase buffer stock in NFA warehouses, meantime, is done to ensure the sufficient supply of rice which can be bought at a lower price.
