Inmate in Baguio City shot in a jailbreak attempt

Baguio City, Philippines - A Person Deprived of Liberty (PDL) in Baguio City Jail was shot after attempting jailbreak Thursday last week, November 24.


Baguio City Jail Male Dorm Warden Mary Ann Tresmanio, in her interview with DZWT news team, relayed that the 39-year-old inmate and his jail officer escort were returning to the prison when the inmate suddenly run to escape, prompting his escort to shoot him.


The inmate, as reported by Mt. Province Broadcasting Corporation - MPBC over the weekend, is now in stable condition.


According to Tresmanio, the inmate’s request for probation may no longer be granted due to his attempt.


He is facing charges with violations of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and Republic Act 9262, known as the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004.
