Isabela farmer dies after motorcycle plunged into a canal in Tabuk City


Tabuk City, Kalinga — A 46-year-old farmer from Isabela died after his motorcycle plunged into a canal along the Ipil-Nasgueban Provincial Road in Barangay Ipil, Tabuk City, Wednesday afternoon of February 2.


Investigation of Tabuk City Traffic Management Unit disclosed that the rider identified as Jun Martin, married and resident of Burgos, Isabela was traversing the road going to Mapaoay around 4:00 PM with his back rider—Fortunato Calagno, 47, also a resident of Burgos, Isabela—when the incident took place.

Witness told police that the rider’s motorcycle was overspeeding until the rider was not able to control it and fell into the canal at the side of the road.


Personnel from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office rushed the rider and back rider to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital. However, Martin was declared dead by the attending physician at 4:40 PM.


Calagno, on the other hand, sustained multiple fractures in his feet.
