‘Isardeng tayo ti agwara-wara, usaren ti basuran’ - Appas BLGU , Tabuk City appeals to public after much garbage seen on roadsides

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Barangay Local Government Unit of Appas, in Tabuk City, Kalinga reminds its residents and the passersby anew to practice proper waste disposal after a significant amount of garbage was seen scattered across various areas within the community.

On Tuesday, January 14, 2025, the BLGU, headed by Barangay Captain Bernard Glenn Dao-as, posted pictures on its Facebook page showing piles of trash incorrectly discarded in various locations within the barangay, mostly roadsides.

The photos, according to a BLGU official, clearly show that the waste was irresponsibly thrown away in those areas. Those waste were causing unsightly clutter and may lead to environmental hazards and health risks.

For said reasons, the barangay local government unit reiterated the need for collective responsibility in maintaining the cleanliness and health of the community.

“Aramiden tayo koma ti part tayo and be responsible citizens. Ikabil tayo dagiti basbasura tayo ti usto nga pangikabilan (garbage collections points), and isardeng tayon koma ti agwarwara iti public spaces,” said the BLGU through its Secretary Brenda Depalog during an interview with Guru Press Cordillera.

The secretary also took the chance to remind residents of the importance of participating in community clean-up drives, underscoring that effective waste management is not just a responsibility of the barangay officials, but of each individual.

“We are committed nga iprovide dagiti  kailangan nga facilities wenno resources for waste disposal, ngem kailangan mi ti cooperation ti tunggal maysa ta isu ti susi  tapno agtalinaed nga nadalos ti komunidad,” she added.

Barangay Captain Bernard Glenn Dao-as, leading the barangay, assures the public that efforts to combat illegal dumping and promote waste segregation will continue.

“Kitan tayo met bassit, kabarangayan ken kakailyan ta sumurot tayo iti pagsayaatan tayo met lang amin. NU nadalos ti barangay, maliklikan ti sakit ken naurnos ti aglawlaw,” said Dao-as.

The BLGU also called for increased vigilance in reporting instances of improper waste disposal to ensure accountability and prevent further environmental damage.
