Jealous senior citizen beats wife in Cagayan

Cagayan, Philippines—A 64-year-old woman sustained several bruises after her 66-year-old jealous husband beat her afternoon of June 21 in Sanchez Mira.

The Police Regional Office II Regional Public Information Office reported that the victim appeared at the police station on June 22 crying. The police officers noted several bruises on her body.

She narrated how her husband beat, punched, and kicked her at around 1 o’clock in the afternoon of June 21, as the husband accused her to be ‘into’ a 30-year-old guy who is always coming to their house to ask for a betel nut and leaves. The husband further claimed that he saw the victim with the man’s hand on her thigh.

The wife also told investigators that this is not the first time that the husband beat her, claiming that every time he gets intoxicated, he would start a fight then beat her.

Meantime, the police reported that the suspect is currently on probation for his criminal case in Apayao.

The suspect was charged for violation of Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004. He is now under the custody of the Sanchez Mira Police Station.
