Jeepney driver who shot 3 men in Baguio gets killed in an accident while on the run

Baguio City, Philippines – A jeepney driver who allegedly shot three men in MRR Queen of Peace Barangay, Baguio City, died in a road accident while trying to get away from the authorities on Sunday evening, August 29.


According to Mt. Province Broadcasting Corporation – MPBC, the suspect was identified as Rubillo Balmonte Distor Jr., 43. His victims were identified as Bernard Aglaba Carbonell, 45; Peter Carbonell Salvador, 47; and Niño Boy Arellano Carbonell, 35.


Based on the police report, the suspect and Bernard had a heated argument on Sunday evening that made the suspect shot Bernard on his chest.


Aside from Bernard, the suspect also shot Peter on his left leg while Niño Boy sustained gunshot wounds on both legs.

After injuring the three, Distor fled from the crime scene using his L300 van and drove towards 2nd road, Quezon Hill Proper where he came across the patrol car of the Baguio City Police Office – Station 9.


A hot pursuit operation transpired, but then the suspect’s vehicle overturned during the pursuit and the suspect died during the incident.


The victims were brought to the hospital for proper treatment.
