Joshua Pacio is ONE 171 “People's Champ,” receives $6,000 bonus

La Trinidad, Benguet -The ‘blessings’ continue to pour for the undisputed ONE strawweight world champion Joshua “The Passion” Pacio, as he was named “The people’s champ” after his win against Jarred Brooks last week. 

After his second-round TKO victory against Brooks at ONE 171 main event in Qatar on February 20, Pacio earned praise from sports fans because despite the criticisms thrown at him by his critics, he remained steadfast and won the fight.

In the People’s Champion Challenge conducted at the ONE Championship website, Pacioand other athletes who fought at the specific event were voted by the fans who, among them, showed the best performance. 

Other athletes who were included in the voting were Jarred Brooks, Jonathan Haggerty, Bibiano Fernandes, Robert Soldic, among others. However, it was Pacio who won over the hearts of fans with his stellar performance and humble attitude. 

By winning the poll, the Cordilleran champ received additional $6,000 or P347,262.00 bonus apart from the $50,000 performance bonus awarded to him by ONE CEO ChatriSityodtong.

After receiving the recognition, Pacio took to his social media page to convey his sincere thanks to everyone who cast their vote for him. With humility, he recognized his fans’ faith in him, which according to him, played a crucial role for what he is now.
