Kalinga adopts NEDA-CAR Regional Director Sumbeling as daughter ‘Luminay’

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Regional Director of the National Economic Development Authority- Cordillera (NEDA-CAR) and Vice Chairperson of Regional Development Council-Cordillera (RDC-CAR), Susan Sumbeling was adopted as a daughter of Kalinga province.

The adoption rite was made during the culminating activity of the Indigenous People’s month celebration on November 4, 2022, at Kalinga Astrodome in Bulanao, Tabuk City.

The adoption was pushed in recognition of the efforts of Sumbeling in serving the region and for her contributions to the development of both urban and rural areas in CAR.

Being an adopted daughter, Sumbeling will have all the privileges of a daughter of the province, including her protection under the umbrella of the ‘Bodong’ justice system, the Resolution made by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Kalinga states.

Under the resolution, Sumbeling was named as ‘Luminay’ which means a smart and beautiful woman.

She received the document of adoption along with tokens and traditional Kalinga garments during the ceremony led by Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang, Board Member Lester Lee Tarnate, Board Member Danzel Langkit, and other officials.

The regional director expressed her gratitude, saying that she felt honored to be recognized and appreciated for her efforts in regional development and in the pursuit of the Cordilleran autonomy.

“We at the NEDA-CAR remain committed to serving the province of Kalinga and the rest of the Cordillera. As I mentioned, we need that progress shall only to be within our reach and we stand united as we press toward regional autonomy. With this, we look forward to our close collaboration to ensure inclusive and sustainable progress of the Cordillera,” Sumbeling said.
