Kalinga athletes to compete during prov'l sports meet on Apr 13-16

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Athletes who will be composing the Kalinga delegation in the upcoming 2023 Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) meet will be determined on April 13-16.

Said schedule is the Kalinga Provincial Athletic Meet which is finally pushed through after three years of postponement because of the pandemic.

The biggest gathering of athletes coming from the seven municipalities in Kalinga will take place at Macutay-Palao National High School in Rizal.

According to the Kalinga Provincial Information Office, sports events to be played in the provincial meet include archery, arnis, athletics, billiards, boxing, chess, futsal, gymnastics, swimming, taekwondo, tennis, wrestling, and wushu.

In the schedule released for the event, April 10 will be the evaluation or screening of athletes’ documents.

The different delegates are set to arrive in Rizal on April 13. On the same day, coaches, trainers, and officiating officials will convene for a solidarity meeting.

The opening program will be on April 14 at the Rizal Municipal ground. The closing ceremony will take place two days after.

Athletes who will win in the Kalinga Athletic Provincial Meet will be Kalinga’s representatives in the CARAA meet this April in Baguio City.
