Kalinga Bodong hymn, signages for NCCA-registered cultural properties up for funding

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The proposed making of the Kalinga Bodong Hymn and the putting up of signages in six cultural properties registered under the Philippine Registry of Cultural Property (PRECUP) have been approved on Wednesday, May 22, by the Provincial Development Council.

The Provincial Information Office said the projects were already endorsed to the Local Finance Committee for funding.

In creating the festival hymn of the province, a competition where iKalinga musicians in collaboration with musicians outside the province was suggested.

The competition would need a fund of P1 million pesos, only for its cash prizes.

Entries for the competition would be shortlisted by the council into 10 before a board of judges get to choose the top five entries.

In October this year, in time for the Indigenous Month, a live performance of the top 5 entries would be held for the judges to once again deliberate who among the top five entries will be declared the champion. The winning piece shall receive P500, 000 cash prize.

The signages, meantime, were proposed to make known to people the cultural properties that have been registered under the ‘Talapamana Ng Pilipinas’ for its protection and conservation.

These are the Banao Protected Landscapes in Balbalan, the Rizal Archaeological Reservation in Rizal, the Bantayog Wika at the Kalinga State University-Bulanao Campus Compound, the Old Canao Bridge in Calanan, Tabuk City, White Carabao in Bulanao, and the Saint Peter’s Parish Church Bells in Lubuagan.
