Kalinga Community Pantry opens on April 24, donations are welcome


Tabuk City, Kalinga─Inspired by the Maginhawa Community Pantry, the “Kalinga Community Pantry” was recently organized and have started collecting donations. This will be launched on April 24 for the yKalingas in dire need.


Engr. Mandel Gup-ay of Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) narrated that he decided to start their own community pantry after similar initiatives inspired by the Maginhawa Community Pantry continued to sprout around the country.

He said that in partnership with the Kalinga Tourism Office through Lorraine Ngao-I and Vagabond Igorot, they will set up said pantry to extend help for families who are struggling due to the impact of the pandemic.

“Let us continue to support each other, hindi lang sa ating pamilya o sa office kung hindi sa lahat. Mamati nak nga adu tumulong a daduma a tao, so please haan tayo mabain nu di ket let us spread humanity,” he said


Gup-ay added that this pandemic has placed many families in difficult situations, but because of compassion, people came with such kind ideas and are now being imitated to help ease the struggles poor kababayans.



In-kind donations may be dropped off at PNP Block 2, Barangay Bulanao Centro, Tabuk City (Infront of Bayle Supermart) or contact 09169774048 while cash donations may be sent via Landbank Acct. 1056 3615 41 or GCASH 09756892430.

The pantry will be opened at PNP Block 2, Bulanao Centro, Tabuk City, Kalinga (Infront of Bayle Supermart) starting on April 24, 2021.
