Kalinga holds State Universities and Colleges sports fest in CAR

Tabuk City, Kalinga - The Cordillera Administrative Region Association of State Universities and Colleges (CARASUC) Athletic Meet & Socio-cultural Festival 2023 will be held in the province of Kalinga from April 18 to 21, 2023.

“After the Provincial Meet, we will have the CARASUC and Socio-cultural Festival which will be attended by the six (06) SUCs in the Cordilleras,” Kalinga State University Sports Director May Shui Buslig announced during the Kapehan on Monday, April 03.

The said State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) she mentioned to be in the competition are Mt. Province Polytechnic College, Ifugao State University, Benguet State University, Apayao State College, Abra University, and Kalinga State University as the event’s host.

With the theme “Sustaining Sports, Culture and the Arts for Nation Building During the Post-Pandemic," college athletes will compete in events like arnis, boxing, karate, Muay Thai, taekwondo, Pencak Silat, athletics, badminton, basketball, beach volleyball, chess, e-games, football, futsal, lawn tennis, sepak takraw, softball, table tennis, and volleyball.

The sports competition will include sociocultural contests in theater and visual arts, music, and dances.

Buslig likewise presented to the Kapehan members the event’s calendar from the visitor’s arrival on April 16 to the last day, requesting the Kalinga PLGU, headed by Governor James Edduba, permission to allow them to use the Kalinga Sports Center, which was immediately granted.
